I can speak a little German, which i'm trying to improve, and i wish i could speak French better so i could chat to my French friends in their own language.

Hi Sean,
At first I wish you and your family a Happy New Year.
I have some questions; I wanted to use the button "Contact", but it wasn`t possible. Further when I`m in the chatroom, it would be nice, if I could see, who actually is writing a commentar (like the pencil by "shared").Because I don`t know about my partner: he/she`s writing a commentar or waiting of a text from me?
I hope, you can understand the questions...

Happy New Year to you too, we're still ironing out problems, such as allowing people to click on the name of the person they're chatting to in the chat room and see their full profile. so please bear with us as we try to fix the 'alpha' bugs ahead of our 'beta' launch.

Great to hear you're enjoying it, hopefully the majority of little bits and bobs will be sorted within a week and we're then on to the next big steps forwards - Skype.. Chinese/Japanese characters on the virtual keyboard (below) etc..etc..

I think this network is a really great idea - exactly what I'm looking for! I'm going to tell all my friends interested in languages (there are many of them as I study languages) and also post it in some groups in the German version of Facebook.

Thanks for spreading the word Miriposa, we're just a husband and wife team so we don't have a marketing or ad budget we're relying on people seeing the potential in the service and email friends, colleagues and family the address asking them to join us, so thanks a lot

Hello Sean, thanks for the message. The site is really good; I'm already finding it useful. I'm a postgraduate in French literature, and my girlfriend teaches French in the same department, so we're both very interested in the site. We will encourage its use amongst staff and students.

Hi Sean. I searched VoxSwap in google today. I found a lot of release notices. Hopefully with those releases and just general publication will build the site up evenmore. It looks like its growing pretty quickly??

hi Kelly, yes we've had some decent press so fingers crossed! the main thing that will make the site grow is word of mouth, but we're trying some press too. Nicole was interviewed by the Liverpool Post for an article this coming Saturday, hopefully (she's from that neck of the woods). So with some decent press and people spreading the word, hopefully we'll get there!

I just found voxswap when I was searching for an online way to learn Hindi. This looks like such a wonderful site; I'm excited. I run a foreign language club at my high school and we've been trying to set up a pen-pal program for people for ages. I think this just may be the way!

PS. I love that video. We actually used it last Summer in a linguistics class to show how phonology is representative of a language even if the sounds are nonsensical. I've been searching for it for ages! Thanks so much.

Hi Sean! I can't tell you how much I love this site. A bunch of kids from my AP Spanish class are using it and we're going to be hosting an open computer lab just about VoxSwap at my school next week. Question though, my inbox keeps saying that I have a new e-mail, and yet when I go there there's nothing new. Any ideas? Thanks!

that's really great you're enjoying it, that's great to hear. A few people have a mail that says it's there but isn't. I posted in the general forum about this, i kicked off a spammer the other day and so i think what happens is that their messages will have been deleted but they're long gone. You're not missing anything, 'she' doesn't know you but feels a connection etc and, i presume, the next step is for you to pass over your identity details to 'her'. So to protect our users i deleted 'her' but i gave her five or ten minutes to explain 'herself'(could well have been a man) which gave her a ten minute window. I think that's what it was.
so flattered to hear about the computer lab session, that's set me up for the weekend! thanks, Sean

hi Maria, i don't think we put a link in our email alerts? are you cutting and pasting them. i did ask for a direct link, maybe it's working for you but not me? i don't get a link just a message to log on at VoxSwap.com
i'll redouble efforts to get a direct link that works on emails.

Hi, I just joined the site. I have two suggestions though...
1) Can you add a default profile picture that is male? It's strange to see all these female profile pictures and not know if the person is male or female.
2) Can we have a last login date somewhere, so we can see whether or not the person we message is still in the community?

Hi Sean, I have one more idea, although I'm not sure if you are already planning this. I'll say it anyway.
I would like to be able to display my VoxSwap partners somewhere on my profile, so that 1) people can see that I have partners and 2) I can see whether or not someone else has a partner. That's all. Love the site, keep up the good work!

hi there, you can already bookmark your favourite users on your profile - it's not reciprocal yet, but if you want to put up a short cut to your favourite users, you just add them through the + add 'x' to favourite users button

thanks for all the good wishes, it's great. Little Erin is definitely doing her best to make sure we don't sleep too much, it's a lot harder on Nicole than me, i have to confess. She's number three (we now have two daughters and a son, and i think that's enough for anyone!)
